How Airfreight Chargeable Weight is Calculated

Airfreight rates are based on the greater of two measurements:

1. Actual weight – The physical weight of your shipment.

2. Volumetric (dimensional) weight – How much space your shipment occupies.

Formula:
Length (inches) × Width (inches) × Height (inches) ÷ 166 = Volumetric Weight in lbs
(If using centimeters, divide by 6000 to get kilograms)

For example:
A crate measuring 40" × 30" × 25" = 30,000 cubic inches ÷ 166 = 181 lbs chargeable weight.
If the actual weight is 150 lbs, the airline charges for 181 lbs.
