Customs Information for the Netherlands

When relocating to the Netherlands, customs regulations must be followed to avoid delays or charges. Here are the key guidelines:

Household Goods

Used household items and personal effects can be imported duty-free if:
- You are moving your primary residence to the Netherlands.
- Items have been owned and used for at least 6 months.
- Goods arrive within 12 months of your relocation.

Required Documents:

Copy of your passport
Dutch residence registration or work permit
Inventory list (in English or Dutch)
Bill of lading or air waybill
Proof of residence change (e.g., registration in Dutch municipality)

Autos and Motorcycles

You may import one vehicle tax-free if:
- The vehicle has been in your possession and used for 6+ months.
- You’re moving to the Netherlands permanently.
- You register the vehicle with the Dutch road authority (RDW).
